Mormor's visit!

You will find text below pictures from Kristi and Mormor's respective visits!

Last Monday morning Mormor ("Mother's mother" in Swedish) came down for the week to help us adjust during the transition period while Jonathan heads back to work after his time off.

It was difficult to allow Mormor to do everything she wanted to do to help, which ranged from cleaning toilets and scrubbing the kitchen floor to making sure Sarah took naps and preparing delicious meals. However, she insisted and it feels so great now to have a house that is in order and clean! Thank you Mum/Dayle!

Hannah and Sarah had a fantastic time with Mor Mor. They took many walks in the beautiful fall weather, shopped to find more clothes to fit little Hannah, had "tummy time" to strengthen Hannah's neck and stomach muscles, and pampered Hannah with a manicure (filing of long nails), a bath, and a baby massage. Additionally, Mormor offered to watch Hannah so that Sarah could try to go for a jog down to the Gould Hill Apple Orchard and back. Despite that this is only a 1.5 mile jaunt (yes, round trip), it was a real treat to feel the liberating sensation of jogging again, since it's been so long. We also discovered that the town library has Baby Lap time, which is something that Sarah and Hannah are going to check out later today (Friday)! Several other activities kept us busy. While trying to obtain Hannah's fingerprints and footprints for her baby journal, we approached her while she was sleeping, so that she wouldn't squirm. Our mission was to cover each hand and foot with pink ink (non-toxic of course!) and then press each hand/foot onto the proper page. It felt as if we were the mean campers at summer camp, spreading condiments on the camper who fell asleep first. The same day, five town firemen arrived in full HazMat garb to check for a propane leak, since we had noticed an occasional smell of propane near the regulator. The excitement of the lights on the ambulance and the fire truck seemed a bit overwhelming for Hannah, but the firemen thought she was a cutie despite the wailing.

Grandpa Jimbo came to visit the little bambino on Tuesday. Although Hannah spent a good portion of the day sleeping, she was wide-eyed for an hour or so in the afternoon while GP Jimbo was entertaining her (or, perhaps she was entertaining him!). During his visit, GP Jimbo also installed two storm doors to keep us warm this winter and a light fixture in our kitchen (most dominant Mason gene is the "I can't sit still" gene).

During this second week of her life, Hannah's stretching and body movements have become much more vigorous and she is increasingly interactive. Each day we are exposed to her deep blue eyes for longer and longer time periods. Hannah has begun to developed the ability to track one's face or an object with her eyes too! Moreover, she startles/shudders in response to loud noises, such as closing of the washing machine door, also indicative of good developmental progression! So, we're thankful for a happy and healthy little tyke. Pictures from Auntie Kristi's visit and Mormor's visit are posted above.
