Thanksgiving etc.

Fall clean-up at Emerson!  We had fun!  Only three families were able to participate, but we had a blast and it didn't take too long to remove all the leaves from the playground.

Pumpkin carving is always an exciting fall event.

Hannah and Mormor working on Hannah's Pippi Dress.

Pippi and the police chief are headed to the Halloween Holler parade!

The Pippi costume was a hit; definitely one of the favorites and most commented upon.  Mason's costume was in its entirety for only a few minutes, before the coat and hat were deemed uncomfortable.

Pippi, watch out!  Your braids may take out your friend!  Hannah was all smiles this day and proudly sported her Pippi costume.

Always the favorite activity at Halloween Holler.

Hannah and Mason often ask one another if they want to "have a snuggle," which means cozy up on the couch or futon like so and just embrace, wiggle and giggle.

Mason and Mom built a block structure using every single block.  It was during this activity that Mom realized how particular Mason is about where things should be placed.

This is typical of Hannah.  When she gets home from a day of school, she likes to sit down and do more school!  Being encouraged to use "kindergarten writing" has been very liberating for her, and has allowed her to really enjoy writing.

Photo shoot of Hannah one day after school.
Thanks for your help, kiddos!  I think we raked this side of our driveway four times this fall -- it's right where all the leaves get trapped.

Nanny and Gramps at Thanksgiving!

Snuggles after a big meal

Comfy clothes and relaxing are in order after the big meal.

Look at Luke!  He's growing so quickly!!

Reading with Auntie Kate after a bath.

Reading with the other Aunts :)

Roasting wieners and marshmallows (for S'mores) over a camp fire was a hit for each of the grandchildren and brought memories back for Unc B, Auntie Kate, and Mom.

Hannah looks like she's sitting in a boat, fishing, while Mason's sausage may take a while to cook at that height!  What a fun experience!

After patiently roasting the perfect dog, the troops enjoy their lunch.

Following our meal, Grace and Mason cooperated beautifully to build a snow fort.  This activity was followed with hide-and-seek outside, which the kids couldn't get enough of.

TIME TO ROAST MARSHMALLOWS!

S'more S'mores, please!

Quotes Corner:
After having two impromptu play dates in one morning, Mom told Mason he had one more that had been planned in advance.  In response, Mason said, "Okay Mom, but after my playdate with Matthew, I'm full."

"Just smelling the diesel makes my nose twitter," says Hannah as she watches the machines across the street tear down trees.

While making a dinosaur craft, Mason points and says, "these ones are the whiskers, like cats."
Mom says, "What do you mean?"
Mason: "I think dinosaurs have whiskers like cats."

In the car one day, we were talking about how you pick someone to marry, when Hannah offers some wise advice: "For one, you don't want to marry a burglar."
